Today we celebrate our Mothers, their compassion and care, their nurturing and empathy, and their unconditional love for their children. Who’s the greatest Mom in the world? Yours is. Thank God for mothers.
But to those who have lost their mothers, or who have never known them, the Lord wants to comfort you.
Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man (Mankind) in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. Man, male and female, He created them“
Where did Mankind get its more noble nature, both male and female? From God. Jesus said before His crucifixion for us all: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!”
In Psalm 68 the Psalmist says of God: “God places the solitary in families and gives the desolate a home in which to dwell…”
The Lord has not forgotten the motherless. He offers comfort, sympathy, and rest: “The eternal God is your refuge and dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” Deuteronomy 33:27
God is our Father and Mother when our earthly parents fail, or when they are no longer present with us, God is with us. He will never leave us nor forsake us.
“I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless]; I will come [back] to you.” John 14:18 AMPC
I encourage you to listen to Marilyn’s song “Ship in the Harbor;” it is a song for you today. It has been a blessing to many over the years and I think it really expresses God’s Love for His people.
Thank you for this entry. I was very discouraged and this entry–and the song–encouraged my heart.
