Marilyn said to me the other day,”that Orchid is about to bloom, it would make a good time lapse video” So I found myself setting up the tripod and borrowing her phone to do a little time lapse video.

I love orchids. They are very mysterious plants. They are fascinating to observe and photograph. Once I was asked to pick a flower that described our daughter Jewel. I picked the Orchid. Its variety, and beauty, its incredible toughness and ability to thrive in some of the most hostile environments in the world made it the perfect choice.

Since then, everytime I see an orchid I think about Jewel. As she’s about to graduate from college after four years of blooming into a mature young woman, this video takes on even more significance for me.
